| Virtualization of UC Applications
Support for unified communications application virtualization
With the rapid adoption of virtualization for unified communications, there is a great need for a standard way to package and distribute virtual machines.
Delivering our applications and services within virtual environments is an important success factor helping you to streamline installations, minimize maintenance and create portable UC application environments. Leaders in the virtualization field have created the Open Virtualization Format (OVF) which is a platform independent, efficient, extensible, and open packaging and distribution format for virtual machines. This open virtualization format fits exactly the requirements for our virtualization strategy and is therefore available for our installations as well.
By using the open virtualization format you:
- Improve the user experience with streamlined installations
- Offer your customers virtualization platform independence and flexiblity
- Create complex pre-configured services more easily
- Efficiently deliver communications software through portable virtual machines
Unified Computing System
The Cisco Unified Computing System is a perfect fit for running unified communications applications and delivers the following benefits:
- Reduce total cost of ownership at the platform, site, and organizational levels
- Increase IT staff productivity and business agility through just-in-time provisioning and mobility support for both virtualized and non-virtualized environments
- Enable scalability through a design for discrete servers and thousands of virtual machines in a single highly available management domain
- Use industry standards supported by a partner ecosystem of innovative, trusted industry leaders
Open Virtualization Format
The OVF format provides a complete specification of the virtual machine which is required for your installation. This includes the list of required virtual disks plus the required virtual hardware configuration, including CPU, memory, networking, and storage.
You will find the latest OVF files in our download section.
